Why take this class?

This course prepares Child Development majors to successfully complete child development course work at the 100 level and higher at Palomar College. It introduces the concepts of APA writing and format, Child Development department requirements for observations and lesson plans, skills to develop an online professional portfolio, and creating a degree completion plan. 

It is strongly recommended that students complete this course in the first semester of enrollment in a Child Development program.

Students should be aware of the Student Success Guide and the many resources offered by Palomar's Child Development Department. The Palomar Dashboard is also available and offers learning opportunities to teach students to use information ethically and accurately.

How Grades Will Be Weighted


90 – 100%   A (5)    (126-140 points)

80 – 89%     B (4)    (112-125 points)

70 – 79%     C (3)    (98-111 points)

60 – 69%     D (2) (84-97 points)

0 – 59%       F (1) (0 – 83 point)
